How to Stop Negative Thoughts from Affecting Your Manifestations

The Law of Attraction works by aligning you with the frequency that matches your thoughts and emotions. This can work in your favor, enabling you to live a life beyond your wildest dreams, provided that you consistently keep your vibration high. Left unchecked, negative thoughts and emotions can spiral out of control, causing you to attract unwanted situations.

Have you ever had the experience of absolutely dreading a certain outcome, only to have your worst fears confirmed? This is the Law of Attraction at work. Like attracts like, so it is extremely important to learn to master your thoughts and emotions. While it is natural for negative thoughts and feelings to arise from time to time, the main thing is not to dwell on them.
As soon as you give too much energy or attention to a certain thought or feeling, you increase the likeliness of an undesired outcome manifesting. Those new to the Law of Attraction often experience actual fear of negative thoughts and emotions, worrying that they will accidentally attract a bad experience when these arise.

However, you need not fear negativity. This will only create a negative cycle that is difficult to escape and not ideal for manifestation. You do need to avoid unpleasant thoughts and feelings wherever possible though. Be especially wary of obsession, because this state takes a lot of your energy. In time, you can learn to switch between thoughts like you switch between channels on the TV.

The following techniques will teach you how to handle negative thoughts and emotions so you can stay on track with your manifesting. It might take a little practice to get the hang of these life changing tips, so be patient and kind to yourself as you learn. Continue to persevere until you have mastered your mind and you will see that the effort was completely worth it.

Mindfulness

The first step in learning to control your mind and emotions is to become aware of them. So often during our day to day lives, it can seem impractical to acknowledge our thoughts and feelings – especially if they are negative. However by learning to listen to the whispers of our soul we are able to diffuse tensions in a healthy way, clearing the path for manifestation.

Contrary to popular belief, mindfulness need not involve meditation or time consuming activities such as journaling, although these techniques are excellent practices if you have the time. Mindfulness can be described as the art of observing your thoughts and emotions without judging or identifying with them. In time as you master mindfulness, you will be able to shift your thoughts at will.

You are Not Your Thoughts or Emotions

The first step in practicing mindfulness, is to accept that your thoughts and emotions come and go like the clouds. You cannot predict exactly when negative feelings or thoughts will arise, but you can prepare yourself mentally for the fact that they will. Sometimes there is no real reason for them to surface but regardless as to why they show up, you can learn to shift your mood.

It is very important not to identify with the negativity. If you begin to see negativity as part of your being, it will slow down and possibly even ruin manifestation. For example, when you experience feelings of anger, sadness or fear, instead of thinking “I am angry/sad/afraid”, you can reframe your interpretation of the emotions by thinking “I feel angry/sad/afraid”.

Check in With Yourself Often

Begin by taking a deep breath and thanking your thoughts and emotions for being a part of you. Gratitude is an important part of manifestation and the Universe sometimes guides us towards our dreams through our deepest feelings. Try not to be afraid of engaging with them, for without them you would not be able to hear the messages of your soul.

Shift your perspective towards regarding your thoughts and emotions as your closest friends, like visitors that pass through your consciousness. Accept that you have unexpected visitors, and greet them with kindness and respect. Listen to their message and respond to their needs and desires as best you can. Some may need encouragement or affirmation, while others might not make sense at all.

Feel free to disagree with any thought or feeling that is illogical. Just as friends help each other to regain perspective, so you can reframe your thoughts and emotions. Whatever they are saying and feeling, do not judge them, simply accept them as they are and try to lift their spirits as much as possible. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help to achieve this.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a technique that reframes negative thoughts and emotions. By first using mindfulness to assess your thoughts and feelings, you can then change your thoughts and mood with CBT. Often negativity is completely irrational, based purely on emotions and not necessarily an accurate reflection of the real life scenario that is playing out.

CBT is the art of questioning your negative thoughts and feelings, until they have dissolved and you can replace them with a more positive outlook. You don’t need to see a therapist to reap the benefits of CBT. With a little knowledge that you will learn right here, you can practice CBT without assistance anytime and anywhere.

Identify your Negative Thoughts

If you are stuck in a spiral of negativity, it is best to grab a pen and paper so that you can shift your mood as effectively as possible. On the paper, draw a line down the centre so that you have two columns. In the left hand column, write down and number every single negative thought that is swirling through your mind, no matter if it makes sense or not.

Challenge your Negative Thoughts

Now that you have found your negative thoughts, you can assess them, challenge them and change them for the better. Take a moment to consider each thought one by one, taking note of whether it is realistic or not. You really need to question each thought thoroughly, and provide evidence that it is untrue.

On the right hand side of the column you can write down a more positive thought. CBT is perhaps one of the most useful tools in manifestation, because it has the ability to change the beliefs of your subconscious mind permanently. With consistent practice, you can become exactly who you want to be.

Example: I have no friends >I have many friends, I should see them more often.
