Letting Go of Expectations

It is difficult to fully grasp the importance of letting go of expectations, when the Law of Attraction states that we should know (or expect) without a doubt that our manifestations will materialize. However it is important to note that there are two kinds of expectations. The vibration of positive expectations that draws your desires to you, and the frequency of negative expectations that pushes your dreams away. It is a paradox that in order to receive your desire, you need to let go of your emotional attachment to it.

It is only when we become unable to hold on to the attachment any longer that it will materialize. In the meantime the manifestation brews in the subconscious, ultimately emerging purer than it would have without the percolation phase. Although negative expectations, or emotional attachments, delay manifestations initially this is not to say that they will never materialize. Through deep inner work we can learn to release our emotional attachments and attract our desires more powerfully than ever.

The Two Kinds of Expectations

A person who vibrates on a frequency of positive expectations predicts that good things will happen, but is not overly emotionally invested in the manifestation. They do not feel incomplete without the desire, or attempt to control the way in which it manifests. Their frequency is content and abundant, with or without the manifestation. In Buddhism the principle of non-attachment is synonymous with the concept of “unity in all things”, which is directly related to the way in which the Universe works.

The Universe is a pool of infinite resources and everything in the ether, as well as physical reality, vibrates on a certain energetic frequency. The ether is the realm of infinite potential, and we can access this energy by delving deep into the subconscious mind and aligning our own energetic vibration with that of our desires. As everything is made up of interconnected invisible energy, when we align ourselves with our desires we can bring them forth from the ether.

On the other hand, negative expectations attempt to control manifestation and vibrate on a frequency of attachment. Emotional attachment vibrates on a frequency of lack or desperation and will repel your desires and prevent them from manifesting. The reason for this is due to the fact that you can only attract your desires if you are aligned with a frequency of abundance and contentment. If a person feels that an aspect of their worth or happiness depends on acquiring something they do not have, this is known as attachment.

Lack and desperation are illusions of the mind that seem real when we do not fully understand that third dimensional reality is only the tip of the iceberg. The fact is there is much more to this world than meets the eye. Below the surface there is an alternative reality, and it is through connecting to this world (the ether) that we can overcome the illusion of lack and take a quantum leap into a parallel universe. It is possible to access this pool of infinite resources by entering the dream state, or subconscious, which can be done through meditation, subliminal affirmations or guided hypnosis.

The Law of Attraction cannot be pinned down one hundred percent, meaning you cannot control how or when your manifestations will appear. For this reason it is best to let go of the entire process and place your faith in the Universe. Just as you do not attempt to control when the parcel you ordered will be delivered, it is best to let go of the timing of your manifestations. Send out an energy of positive expectation when thoughts of your desires pass through your mind, and simply get on with your life while you wait contentedly for them to manifest.

The Percolation Phase

Percolation is defined as “the process of a liquid slowly passing through a filter.” Just as a pot of coffee needs time to percolate, allowing the grounds to flavor the water, so the mind needs time to filter new thoughts into your subconscious. This process plays a role in manifestation in tandem with releasing negative expectations, or emotional attachment, to an outcome.
For example artists, writers and creatives can spend months or even years brewing their concepts. When the time is right these ideas can no longer lie dormant and bubble over into the physical realm by means of manifested self expression. It is similar to the concept of metamorphosis whereby a caterpillar spins a cocoon and after a period of time spent alone in the dark, emerges transformed as a butterfly.

Sometimes percolation is an uncomfortable feeling. Almost as though there is something powerful inside you that needs to be let out. Percolation occurs when we are unhappy with our present reality and the desire for change is strong, yet the likeliness seems far off. As soon as we are unable to bear the discomfort any longer, the emotional attachment is released and the manifestations materialize.

Have you ever felt stuck on a project, only to resume work the next morning and find your mind filled with fresh ideas and motivation? This is percolation at work, which is the reason behind the time and tested advice, “sleep on it”. When the conscious mind is not focused on how the manifestation will arrive it allows the subconscious to filter information and thoughts to brew, ultimately producing a strong solution.

Now that you are aware of the role that positive and negative expectations play in manifestation, you will be able to untangle your emotional attachments and attract your dream reality. Remember that all possibilities exist within the magical and mysterious ether. We need only to remain positive whilst planting seeds in our subconscious, in order to enter the realm of infinite possibilities and manifest our desires.
